Students at South Fulton Middle-High School, Obion County Middle School, and Obion County Central High School recently had the opportunity to explore career and technical education through a visit from the Be Pro, Be Proud Tennessee mobile workshop.
The Be Pro, Be Proud truck provides students with hands-on experiences designed to introduce them to skilled professions and high-demand career fields. Through interactive demonstrations and technology-based activities, students can explore potential career paths while learning more about the skills, training, and education needed to enter the workforce. Students had the opportunity to experience electrical work, plumbing, diesel mechanics, dozer operation, excavator operation, CDL truck driving, linework, and mechatronics.
The visit helped students see how classroom lessons apply to real-world careers and explore how their interests and skills could lead to future career opportunities.
“Experiences like this help students see that there are many different pathways to a successful future,” said Becky Orr, Career Specialist for Obion County Schools. “We want our students to understand the opportunities available to them right here in our communities and beyond, and to recognize the value of developing the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce. Be Pro, Be Proud gives students an engaging, hands-on way to explore those possibilities.”
